Twisted Stalk

  • berry has bland, cucumber-like taste.
  • stem has distinct sharp kinks that make it look crooked.
  • varieties in British Columbia are Claspleaf twisted-stalk (Streptopus amplexifolius) and Rosy twisted-stalk (Streptopus lanceolatus).
  • grows in dense, moist undergrowth.
  • warning: berries eaten in quantity can have a laxative effect.
