Twisted Stalk

berry has bland, cucumber-like taste.
stem has distinct sharp kinks that make it look crooked.
varieties in Manitoba are Claspleaf twisted-stalk (Streptopus amplexifolius) and Rosy twisted-stalk (Streptopus lanceolatus).
grows in dense, moist undergrowth.
warning: berries eaten in quantity can have a laxative effect.
